Try a Social Media Fast for an Instant Confidence and Happiness Boost (DAY #22 OF STOP YOUR INNER NAYSAYER WITH SELF LOVE SERIES)

Hi Beautiful!

Social media can be a great way to stay connected with friends and family. Unfortunately, it can also be a toxic environment that leads many of us to feel bad about ourselves. It can also be a place of divisiveness and arguments. Taking charge of your social media use can be quite empowering and lead you to a feeling of well-being. Taking a complete break from Facebook, Twitter, and other sites can really do you some good, especially if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by it all lately. Read on to discover why you might want to try a social media fast for an instant confidence and happiness boost.

About a Social Media Fast

A social media fast is simply choosing to stay away from social media for a certain period of time. It can be a week, a month, or even a year. Perhaps more if that’s what you feel you need. There are lots of reasons for taking a break from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. These sites are often places where people talk about their happy times, hiding any stressful events or difficulties they’re having. It can also be a place for bragging and overselling how well one is doing. If there are people in your social media feeds whose lives seem too perfect, it can lead to comparison or insecurity for you. It’s also easy to get caught up in social media, spending much of your free time there and checking it all the time. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with social media and missing out on more important things, it may be time to take a break.

Benefits of a Social Media Detox

When you walk away from social media, you’re removing yourself from the temptation to compare. You can focus on the good that’s in your own life and on pursuing your personal goals. There’s no need to compete with outside ideals on a regular basis, and you may find that your peace of mind improves. You also lose the fear of missing out. Instead of worrying about what others are doing, you can begin to seek out your own opportunities for fun and entertainment. You’ll have more time to reconnect with people who are important to you in real life, as well as to pursue your other interests.

How to Get Started

There are lots of ways to take on a social media fast. You can go cold turkey and just drop it completely. It’s also possible to start by removing toxic people from your feed, either by unfollowing or hiding them. Perhaps you want to ease into it by limiting access to social media to just one device or checking it only in the morning. Turning off notifications so you’re not constantly being called to check in is good. So is choosing just one app to use and eliminating the rest.

Taking a break from social media can be good for your self-esteem and contribute to a greater sense of self-love. Give it a try and let me know if you experience any breakthroughs on your fast.

Practice Mindfulness to Feel Better About Yourself (DAY #19 OF STOP YOUR INNER NAYSAYER WITH SELF LOVE SERIES)

Hi Beautiful!

You may have heard of the practice of mindfulness. It’s become all the rage in new age philosophy. And for good reason. This simple concept can deliver powerful results. Mindfulness is really just being aware of yourself and your emotions in the present moment. It involves bringing your thoughts back to the present when they begin to wander, much like meditation.

Mindfulness is knowing where your attention lies. You can use this concept when you discover that your inner naysayer is sending you negative messages. You’ve learned some strategies for recognizing this inner critic. One other way to overcome it is to use mindfulness to manage these thoughts once you recognize them.

Countering your own negative self-talk immediately in the moment with mindfulness is an effective way to deal with it. By managing these messages, you’ll gradually increase your self-esteem. Read on to discover some ways to use mindfulness to feel better about yourself.

Use Visualization

Visualization is a way of helping to make your positive thoughts a reality. When you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts, counter them with a vision of things going well. Try to include details in that vision, such as what you’re wearing, your surroundings, and even how you feel. Doing this practice routinely has been shown to actually rewire your brain to act as though your vision were actually happening. Over time, you’ll begin to gain the self-confidence you have in your vision.

Examine Your Thoughts

Actually taking time in the moment to examine and counter your negative thoughts is a powerful act of mindfulness. Ask yourself questions about the negative self-talk you just heard. Analyze it. Try to discover its roots or meanings. Getting to the bottom of these messages and their resulting feelings as they’re happening can help you to give them the boot and replace them with kinder thoughts.

Take Risks

Being mindful can also mean being proactive in your actions. Deciding in the moment to try something new or push past your fear to take a risk is a fantastic way to feel more secure in your abilities. You’ll gain lots of strides the more you practice taking risks, so give it a shot today. Feel free to start small and increase your reach over time.

Acknowledge What You’re Doing Right

Counter your thoughts about what an awful person you are or what you’re doing wrong with an acknowledgement of what you’re doing right. There’s always something good about yourself you can note if you dig deep. This will get easier with time, so don’t feel like you have to immediately heap tons of praise upon yourself. Try just taking note of one small thing you’ve done right today to offset the self-critical thought you’re having. Then, see how much lighter your mood feels.

Give these tricks a try when you find yourself succumbing to your inner naysayer. Using mindfulness practices can be a very effective way to overcome your inner naysayer and feel better about yourself.

3 Simple Hacks to Help You Feel Better About Yourself Today (DAY #4 OF STOP YOUR INNER NAYSAYER WITH SELF LOVE SERIES)

Hi Beautiful!

Yesterday, I shared that self-love doesn’t have a definite definition and it is different for each person. I hope you have taken the time to define what what it means to you. Today, I am going to be giving you three hacks to help boost your self-love right now.

Self-love is a journey. It doesn’t come easily or quickly for most of us. Learning to love, care for, and respect ourselves takes time and dedication. It’s a process that comes with ups and downs. You’ll have some rough days, and you’ll want to throw in the towel. After all, many of our negative beliefs and habits have been ingrained in us throughout our whole lives. It will take time and practice to overcome these habits and start treating yourself with love. However, there are some simple hacks you can do to get started on the right foot and start feeling better about yourself today. Check them out.

Treat Yourself Like a Friend

One quick way to begin to show yourself some love is to treat yourself the way you would treat a friend or loved one. If you catch yourself repeating negative messages or putting yourself down, take time to consider whether you’d talk to someone you care about in such a manner. If not, you definitely shouldn’t be treating yourself with such disdain. After all, a core component of self-love is self-care. Caring about yourself isn’t selfish. It shows that you understand your worth and that you value who you are as a person. Try to take note when you start spouting negative self-talk. Then change it around to something more positive. Treat yourself with as much compassion as you would treat a friend.

Understand Your Triggers

We all have triggers that can elicit a reflexive reaction in us. When you find yourself feeling irritable, annoyed, hurt, or angry by something someone says or does, take time to consider why it is you’re feeling that way. This type of insight and self-awareness can truly help you to be more understanding and nurturing with yourself. It can also provide the knowledge you need to push past those triggers and to feel more at ease with yourself

Look Outside Yourself

It may sound counterintuitive but looking outside yourself at ways you can help others is a fantastic way to help yourself feel better. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut and to wallow in our own problems. In fact, it’s only human to do so. However, you can break out of such negative patterns by proactively looking for ways you can make a difference to someone else. Even the smallest steps can help. For example, taking time to listen to a friend’s problem can help you to feel more connected to them and to feel proud that you were able to be there for them. It can also help to put some of your own life’s issues into perspective. Find ways to look outside yourself if you find you need a quick pick-me-up.

Keep these tips in mind to help you feel better about yourself when you’re in a funk. These simple things can help put you on the fast track to self-love.

You are beautiful and you are enough.

Why It’s Important to Embrace Self-Love (Day #1 of Stop Your Inner Naysayer with Self Love Series)

Hello beautiful!

Throughout this month I am focusing on helping you grow your self-love and stop that little negative voice in your head that is constantly telling you that you aren’t good enough or that you don’t have what it takes to live the life you desire. I am dedicating this month to all things self-love. You’ll discover what self-love means and how to express it. We’ll also cover techniques for increasing your self-confidence and appreciation of yourself. There’s so much to consider with regard to learning to love yourself, and the benefits are numerous.

3-1-20 1Self-love is really a fairly simple concept. It refers to the ability to regard yourself positively in a variety of aspects. When you embrace self-love, you think highly of your appearance and body image, as well as mental and emotional characteristics. You accept yourself as you are, but you are also excited about growing and improving every day. Self-acceptance doesn’t rely on waiting until “someday” to start living and enjoying your own company.

There are so many benefits to self-love. When you truly love yourself, you’re more satisfied with your life. You’ll see that you have agency and are in charge of the ways in which you choose to respond to what happens to you. This also leads to greater self-esteem. You’ll have better relationships with others when you’re comfortable with yourself, too. That’s because you won’t be worried about or negatively affected by their opinion of you. You’ll also have the self-worth required to create boundaries and stand up for yourself when you’re not heavily invested in how others see you.

Loving yourself makes self-care easier because you’ll understand that you deserve to expend energy, time, and resources on yourself as much as you do on others. You’ll also be more likely to pursue your goals with gusto when you view yourself as worthy of attaining them. When something negative does occur in your life, you’ll be better able to handle it due to your reserve of confidence. You’ll be more optimistic when facing hurdles instead of feeling overwhelmed and defeated.

In addition to being able to handle obstacles more easily, self-love can help you to better handle rejection. If you’re turned down for a job or a date, you won’t feel as hurt because your identity and self-worth don’t depend on that outside influence. You’ll simply have improved life satisfaction in general when you learn to love yourself and to accept your own value.

Now that you have an idea of some of the benefits that come from loving yourself, you’re ready to move on and discover some ways to embrace the concept and make it a part of your everyday life. Each day that you practice self-love (and self-acceptance) , you’ll come closer to incorporating these values into your own life and feeling more comfortable with the belief that you’re as worthwhile as the people you take care of every day.

Stay tuned each day this month for more body positivity and self-love. There is no better time to grow who you are as a woman (from the inside out) than now. Make sure that you are following the conversation in my group HERE and follow my Instagram for more inspiration.

10 Things To Do When You Hit Rock Bottom

Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to move ahead to the next level in your life. I am here to tell you that it is not a fun place to be in, but there are some things that you can do right now to help you get to the light at the end of the tunnel.

If you feel like you are in a rut and don’t know what to do next, here is a starting point.

1) Accept responsibility for where you are.

The decisions you made in the past somehow played a part in you being in the space you are in right now in your life. Own those decisions and understand where you went wrong so you don’t face those same lessons over and over again.

2) Let go of everything.

Sometime you have to shy away from everything to regain yourself back. Let go of the negative habits, the naysayers, the bad influences, and even your own negative thoughts. It won’t be easy, but it will damn well be worth it.

3) Stop playing the blame game.

Even if it wasn’t ALL your fault, you played a role in it. Even if it was just your reaction to something that happened, it still played a part. Even if you listened to your friend and things didn’t go right, you still played a part in it. You will NEVER move ahead in your life if you are constantly blaming others.

4) Use rock bottom as your foundation to rebuild.

You have a new opportunity, a second chance, to get it right. Build a strong foundation and you will weather any storm that comes. A weak foundation can seem stable for a while and when the littlest storm comes can crumble in an instant.

5) Allow yourself to feel what you are feeling.

It probably won’t feel good and it may even hurt a bit, but when you allow yourself to feel, you allow yourself to start healing. When you mask your feeling they only get worse and even unbearable.

6) Make peace with where you are.

I am not saying accept where you are and get comfortable, but I am saying embrace the space in your life where you are at this moment and acknowledge that you are working to grow and move to a better space.

7) Stop comparing yourself to everyone else.

Few people live up to the Fasad they portray on social media. While you are comparing yourself to someone else’s end, that exact point may only be your starting point, but you feel you are behind or not enough because you are not there yet. Your journey is your journey….and no one else can compare to that.

8) Stop closing yourself off from others.

A solid support system will help you stay motivated and accountable.

9) Realize this darkness won’t least forever.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. This is just a page in the book of your life, it’s time to turn the page.

10) Recreate your life.

So what your life in the past went to hell. This is a new chapter a blank page…What are you going to fill it with?

This blog post comes straight from my YouTube video that goes more in-depth on each of these ways you can start rebuilding your life from rock bottom up. Watch the video here…
